Erzurum Technical University (ETU) ranked first in the medal standings at the 2026 Winter Games organised by the Türkiye University Sports Federation.
Held in Erzurum and attended by 480 athletes from 98 universities, the event saw ETU athletes win a total of 29 medals: 17 gold, 7 silver and 5 bronze in the disciplines of alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, snowboarding, and ice climbing, securing a total of 29 medals—17 gold, 7 silver, and 5 bronze—ensuring ETU athletes concluded the 2026 Winter Games at the pinnacle of success.
ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Çakmak, commenting on the matter, emphasised that maintaining the top position this year, following last year's victory, was the result of planned and systematic work: "This success is the product of months of disciplined training, technical planning and strong teamwork. Our athletes represented our university in the best possible way with great dedication. I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to our athletes and coaches and say how proud we are of them. As ETU, we will resolutely continue our support for sport and athletes. Our goal is to be first in the overall medal standings this year, as we were last year. I believe that our athletes will continue to work with the same seriousness and determination in the coming periods and will continue to represent our university at the highest level in both national and international organisations."
