ETU Students Explore Financial Markets on Istanbul Technical Field Trip

Students from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Erzurum Technical University (ETU) visited leading institutions in the finance sector during a technical field trip to Istanbul, gaining firsthand experience of how capital markets operate.

Students from the Economics and Business Administration Department of ETU's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences participated in the technical field trip to Istanbul to learn about financial markets in their practical applications. The program, which included members of the Innovative Youth Community and the Active Young Entrepreneurs Community, was coordinated by Research Assistant M. Talha Akgun, Academic Advisor of the Innovative Youth Community and faculty member of the Accounting and Finance Department.

At the first stop of the program, the Istanbul Stock Exchange, students visited the trading floor, museum, and foyer areas, learning about the institution's historical development, organizational structure, and market operations. During the presentation given as part of the visit, the fundamental dynamics of capital markets and the role of the stock exchange within the financial system were explained to the students. The students also had an unforgettable experience ringing the gong, one of the symbolic practices of the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

The second stop of the technical tour was the Turkish Capital Markets Association, where students were informed about the association's duties, corporate structure, and functions in the capital markets. In the training seminar held as part of the program, current developments in capital markets, the transforming structure of the sector, and career opportunities were discussed. Participants received certificates of attendance at the end of the program.

The students then visited A1 Capital Securities, where they learned about the operation of brokerage firms, capital market licenses, areas of specialization, and career paths in the finance sector. They also examined various departments within the institution and observed the processes of market operations firsthand.

Commenting on the technical tour, Research Assistant M. Talha Akgun stated that supporting theoretical knowledge with sector applications is important for the professional development of students, adding that such events increase students' financial literacy and contribute to their career planning.
