Students from Kandilli Güvenç Secondary School, located in the Aşkale district of Erzurum,
were welcomed as guests of Erzurum Technical University (ETU).
As part of a visit program organized by the ETU Science Communication Office, 5th, 6th, and
7th grade students from Kandilli Güvenç Secondary School in Kandilli Neighborhood of
Aşkale had the opportunity to closely explore ETU’s scientific, cultural, and social facilities.
Along with the students, School Principal Ahmet Savaş, Vice Principals Atalay Keleş and
Şeyda Ertek, and Social Studies Teacher Selim Tazegüllü also participated in the program.
Throughout the visit, ETU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Naim Ürkmez accompanied the students and
teachers.
Within the scope of the program, students visited the Erzurum Culture and Arts House,
Erzurum City Archive, MUCİTPARK Science and Idea Workshop, the Living Center, the
High Technology Application and Research Center (YÜTAM), the rectorate building, the
central library, and the Faculty of Literature, where they had the chance to observe ETU’s
scientific, cultural, and social opportunities firsthand.
Commenting on the program, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Naim Ürkmez stated that science
communication is an important field that strengthens interaction between universities and
society, adding that introducing students to the university environment at an early age
contributes significantly to the development of scientific awareness.
“We were pleased to host our students at our university. Our children are our future. It is
extremely valuable for us that they become familiar with the university environment and
encounter science at an early age,” Ürkmez said.
