The Interuniversity Cross-Country Skiing (Nordic Discipline) Türkiye Championship, organized by the Türkiye Üniversite Sporları Federasyonu, was held on 14–15 February 2026 at the Kandilli Kayak Merkezi. The championship concluded with a remarkable achievement for Erzurum Teknik Üniversitesi (ETU), which secured first place in both the men’s and women’s team categories, thereby earning the national championship title in the Cross-Country Skiing discipline.
Following the completion of individual and team competitions, ETU athletes won a total of six gold, four silver, and three bronze medals. In addition to this medal tally, the university achieved first place in both men’s and women’s team rankings, finishing the organization at the top of the overall standings.
In the individual classical style events, ETU athletes occupied all three podium positions in the women’s category. Rabia Akyol won the gold medal, Zülfiye Soyarslan secured silver, and Şennur Kartal earned bronze. In the men’s classical category, Yusuf Emre Fırat claimed gold, Civan Kahraman won silver, and Yusuf Talay obtained bronze.
In the freestyle events, Rabia Akyol again won gold and Zülfiye Soyarslan received silver in the women’s category. In the men’s category, Yusuf Emre Fırat secured gold, Civan Kahraman silver, and Yusuf Talay bronze.
In the combined team standings, ETU was followed in the men’s category by Kastamonu Üniversitesi and Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi. In the women’s category, Atatürk Üniversitesi and Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen Üniversitesi ranked among the top three institutions.
In post-competition evaluations, team supervisor Buket Aktaş emphasized that the athletes had demonstrated a high level of dedication and discipline throughout the season and noted that the success achieved was the result of strong team cohesion and systematic preparation. She also expressed her appreciation to the faculty administration, academic staff, the Department of Health, Culture and Sports, and the university’s senior management for their institutional support. Furthermore, she underlined ETU’s potential to sustain and expand its achievements in future interuniversity sports organizations.
