Erzurum Technical University (ETU) Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak participated in the Regional Universities Consultation Meeting held with the participation of the President of the Council of Higher Education (YOK), Prof. Dr. Erol Ozvar, and hosted by Bitlis Eren University.

The meeting, which brought together the rectors of universities in the region, addressed current developments in higher education and opportunities for cooperation between universities. The meeting evaluated the contributions of universities to regional and national development and included an exchange of views on the future of higher education.

As part of the program, Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Cakmak, together with the President of YOK, Prof. Dr. Erol Ozvar, and the accompanying university rectors, visited Ahlat.

During a visit held to commemorate the 955th anniversary of the Battle of Malazgirt, the Ahlat Seljuk Square Cemetery, one of the significant historical sites of Turkish-Islamic Anatolia, was visited. Sultan Alparslan and the ancestors who played a crucial role in making Anatolia a homeland were remembered with gratitude and respect.

In his assessment of the visit, the President of the Council of Higher Education (YOK), Prof. Dr. Erol Ozvar, stated that the Battle of Malazgirt reminds us not only of a glorious past but also of the responsibility to carry our deep-rooted civilization into the future.

The program contributed to the development of communication and cooperation between universities, while once again highlighting the importance of passing on the region's historical and cultural heritage to future generations.
