ETU Academic to Conduct Research in the UK on Climate and Hydro-Meteorological Risks

Prof. Dr. Fatih Tosunoglu, a faculty member of the Civil Engineering Department at Erzurum Technical University (ETU), has been awarded a Short-Term Scientific Research Visit (STSM) grant under the "Extended-range Multi-Hazard Predictions and Early Warnings (ANTICIPATE)" project, which is being conducted across Europe.

With this grant, Prof. Dr. Tosunoglu will undertake a two-week scientific research visit to Loughborough University in the United Kingdom, hosted by Prof. John Hillier. The visit aims to conduct joint research on hydro-meteorological extreme events, flood analysis, and the effects of climate change, to increase the sharing of knowledge and experience, and to develop international scientific collaborations.

The studies to be carried out during the research visit are expected to contribute to scientific studies aimed at evaluating hydro-meteorological risks and better understanding the effects of climate change.

Prof. Dr. Tosunoglu made the following statement regarding the scientific research visit: Fatih Tosunoglu stated that the visit was an important opportunity both for the ongoing scientific studies and for ETU's internationalization vision. Tosunoglu said, "Within the scope of our research visit to Loughborough University, we aim to conduct joint studies on hydro-meteorological extreme events, flood analysis, and the effects of climate change, as well as to share different research approaches and experiences. I believe this visit will provide a new perspective to our current scientific studies and contribute to strengthening our international research collaborations. I also think that such scientific mobility is important for increasing ETU's visibility in international research networks and contributing to our university's internationalization vision. I hope that the academic connections established during the visit will develop into long-term joint research and project studies. I would like to thank the ANTICIPATE network for providing this valuable research opportunity and Professor John Hillier, who will host our research visit."
