ETU’s Bingül Siblings Win 6 Medals at the World Ski Championships for Athletes with Intellectual Disabilities

At the Virtus Open Adapted Ski Championships held in the Gourette region of France,
Erzurum Technical University’s (ETU) national athletes with autism achieved another major
success.
Aliye Zeynep Bingül won three silver medals, finishing second in the super-G, giant slalom,
and slalom events.
Muhsin Murat Bingül earned three bronze medals in the super-G, giant slalom, and slalom
events, bringing pride to ETU and Türkiye,
A welcome ceremony was held at the airport for the Bingül siblings, returning to Erzurum
with six medals, attended by ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Çakmak, along with numerous
academics and students.
Following the welcome, Rector Çakmak hosted the national athletes, their coaching staff, and
families at ETU, emphasizing that determination knows no limits:
“The results achieved by Aliye Zeynep and Muhsin Murat on the international stage are a
perfect example of what can be accomplished with perseverance and determination. A few
months ago, at the Virtus Open Alpin Kitzbühel Ski Competition in Austria, our athletes won
four medals. With each competition, they improved further, and at this championship, they
won six medals, bringing us all immense pride. I would like to once again thank the parents,
coaches, and supporters who have always stood by our athletes. I sincerely believe they will
achieve even greater success in upcoming championships and wish them continued
achievements.”
Following Rector Çakmak, the father of the national athletes, Erzurum Regional Public
Prosecutor Ünal Bingül, expressed his gratitude to ETU for its support of sports and athletes:
“As a father, seeing our children reach this level and witnessing the effort and determination
they have shown over the years is an indescribable pride. This success is not only about the
medals won but is the result of sacrifice, belief, and never giving up. Their determination in
the face of difficult conditions has been our greatest source of joy. God willing, they will
continue their work with the same perseverance and determination and achieve even greater
successes.”
