Erzurum Technical University (ETU) Rector, Prof. Dr. Bülent Çakmak, symbolically handed over the Rectorate office to primary school student Asya Mina Bindesen in honor of the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children's Day.

As part of the April 23rd celebrations, Asya Mina Bindesen, a 3rd-grade student from Yakutiye Kültür Kurumu Primary School, was hosted at the ETU Rectorate. The program was attended by Rector Çakmak’s wife, Behtiye Çakmak, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ceren Sultan Elmalı, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Ahmet Dumlu, as well as Asya Mina’s parents and teacher.

Taking over the representative seat, Asya Mina stated in her speech that the trust placed in children prepares them for the future with more hope. She expressed that universities should open their doors more to children, drew attention to the importance of introducing science at an early age, and emphasized that all children should receive education under equal conditions.

Expressing his pleasure in hosting the young guest, Rector Çakmak noted that April 23rd is one of the most meaningful indicators of the value given to children. Condemning incidents of violence in educational environments, Çakmak stated that ensuring children grow up in safe, peaceful, and supportive environments is a shared responsibility for everyone.

Rector Çakmak mentioned that ETU's efforts for children are continuing to increase, noting that preparations are underway to create a special section for children in the university library. He added that they place great importance on bringing children together with books and science from a young age.

The program concluded with a commemorative photo session to mark the day.
