The 4th ordinary meeting of the Technical Universities Union (TU12) was held under the
hosting of Erzurum Technical University (ETU).
The meeting focused on strengthening inter-university collaborations, increasing scientific
research capacity, and enabling more effective use of research infrastructures. Alongside ETU
Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Çakmak, the meeting was attended by Bursa Technical University
Rector Prof. Dr. Naci Çağlar, Eskişehir Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Adnan Özcan,
Gebze Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Hacı Ali Mantar, İskenderun Technical
University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Duruel, Istanbul Technical University Rector Prof. Dr.
Hasan Mandal, İzmir Institute of Technology Rector Prof. Dr. Yusuf Baran, Karadeniz
Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı, Konya Technical University Rector
Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, Middle East Technical University Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ender
Ciğeroğlu, Sivas University of Science and Technology Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kul, and
Yıldız Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik.
The meeting agenda also included the evaluation of TU12 joint educational activities,
planning for 2026 Scientific Research Projects (BAP), the shared use of research
infrastructures, and the current status of the TU12 Code Network Union Project.
Speaking during the meeting, ETU Rector Prof. Dr. Bulent Çakmak stated that the Technical
Universities Union has become a strategic platform for institutional cooperation in higher
education.
“Our union is an important structure that strengthens the institutional exchange of knowledge
and experience among universities, encourages the development of joint projects, and enables
the more efficient use of research infrastructures. At the point we have reached today, our
priority is not only to maintain existing collaborations but also to develop new mechanisms
that will advance them further. In particular, the 2026 BAP processes, joint educational
activities, and digital transformation topics are critical areas where our universities must act
together. Every step taken in this direction contributes to our scientific visibility both
nationally and internationally,” Çakmak said.
