The Department of History at Erzurum Technical University was established as one of the founding departments of the Faculty of Letters, pursuant to Supplementary Article 131 of Law No. 6005 on the Amendment of the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions and Certain Laws and Decrees Having the Force of Law. This was approved by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) on July 14, 2010, and published in the Official Gazette dated July 21, 2010 (Issue No. 27648).
The department completed its internal organization in 2013 and began admitting undergraduate students as of the 2013–2014 Academic Year. The department is subject to a 240 ECTS credit first-cycle degree system in the field of History in higher education. Students who successfully complete the program and meet the program requirements are awarded a "Bachelor's Degree" in the field of "History."

History of the Republic of Turkey
Our graduates can work as teachers in private schools and secondary education institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Additionally, they may pursue academic careers as faculty members or work as lecturers in the field of "Atatürk's Principles and the History of the Turkish Revolution" at universities. Furthermore, they can find employment in various institutions under the Ministry of Culture, at TRT (Turkish Radio and Television Corporation), in press and media outlets, publishing houses, various ministries, international educational and cultural institutions, and archives.
